Today I launch version 7 of Unique Identity. Under the bonnet there aren’t many changes, but the new design is quite radical. Having stopped my personal blog, PatMyBelly, I decided to inject some of my colourful personality into my portfolio site.
The logo is a play on my old barcode design, which has been giving a 3rd dimension using Swift3D. I also wrote an extension for WordPress to create a JSON feed of links for the bottom of the page, allowing me to lay them out into columns using JavaScript.
Hopefully this one will last longer than the last design.
The new version of the kiosk interface incorporates the new “look” that was created for the intranet. It also links into the Library, making the most of the central management it provides.
With the new Library system being embraced by network users, it was necessary to update the Intranet that had previously provided some of the same functionality. Read the rest of this entry »
New functionality has been added to the Library to allow users to create Lists of information.
Administration users can define the structure for a list, selecting the fields required to store the information and the type of data to be stored in them. Once created, this list shows up in a new section that allows user to add/edit information in the list. Additionally, permissions can be applied to the list to specify who can do what with the information.
The JSON feed functionality has been updated to allow this information to be utilised in external services.
The Harwich Haven Authority has long been due a redesign, but was always put on the back burner because of the size of the project.
The previous website was filled with HTML versions of internal documents that made keeping everything up to date a mammoth task. The first version of the site was created this way because that was what was required at the time, but thankfully things have changed. Read the rest of this entry »
